Here you can find explanations and notes on important terms, abbreviations and other basic conventions.

Command formats

Actions that are triggered by clicking menu items are marked bold , for example: "Print the front panel with File > Print".

Actions that are triggered with keyboard shortcuts are written in non-proportional bold type, for example: "Print the front panel with Ctrl + p".

In areas in which text cannot be formatted, a menu command is enclosed in square brackets: "Print the front panel with [File > Print]". Keyboard shortcuts are enclosed between <> symbols: "Print the front panel with <Ctrl> + <p>".

Keyboard shortcuts

It may be easier and quicker to trigger certain repetitive actions or action sequences with the keyboard rather than the mouse. All of the available keyboard commands are listed in the following table:

Keyboard shortcuts in combination with the mouse and special mouse actions

There are special commands for certain frequently used functions which are used in combination with mouse click actions.



Ctrl + left mouse button

Select element within a group for editing

Alt + left mouse button

Directly select the smallest possible element if several elements overlap at the location

Ctrl + drag & drop

Copy element and insert it at the final position of the mouse

Extend selection marque to the left

Elements are selected that are fully inside the selection marquee

Extend selection marque to the right

Elements are selected that are partially inside the selection marquee

Use of miniature pictures

Large-format images and graphics are initially scaled down for a better overview. Clicking on the respective picture displays it in its original size and a further click resets it to its initial size, etc.
