On the "view" tab in the settings dialog box (Ctrl + e), you can configure the grid geometry, the unit of measurement (mm or inches) as well as a mouse pointer option. The coordinates of the origin compared to the lower left corner of the front panel (source) can also be adjusted and read here.

Display options

With the following options, you can influence the screen display of the objects as well as the cursor. They can partly be toggled from the keyboard or selected under View .

Show reference-points (U): If this is checked, the "reference points" for all objects, which their respective X-Y coordinates relate to, are displayedas little red crosses.
Outline mode (Ctrl + w): If this is checked, then objects only appear in outline, particularly without colour attributes.
Crosshair: If this is checked, then a vertical and a horizontal guide cross at the position of the cursor.
display non-produced elements (Ctrl + H): If the box is checked, non-produced elements are displayed.
only display non-produced elements (Shift + H): If the box is checked, only non-produced elements are displayed.

Grid settings

The grid is an essential aid for placing and arranging objects. It is characterized by the distances between its horizontal and vertical grid lines and its offset to origin.

In the settings dialog, you can determine whether the grid is to be shown and whether the reference points of objects which are inserted or moved by the mouse should be aligned to the grid points ("snapped").

Also moving the display using the cursor keys orientates it to the grid settings.

With "minimal grid point distance," you can also determine how closely a grid may be displayed on the screen (0 pixels = no display limit).

Set origin

The "origin" is the source of the coordinate system, in which the positions of the reference points of objects which exist or are to be placed are specified or determined. Its coordinates are always relative to the lower left corner of the main plate. The origin is symbolized by a blue circle with a small crosshair:

In the settings dialog box you can also enter the coordinates of the origin (relative to the lower left corner of the main plate as an immovable source). In the course of the design you should primarily work with the "set origin" icon, which gives you the opportunity to determine the origin very flexibly. You will find a detailed description of this in the "Tools" chapter.

Units of measurement

You can determine the unit of measurement globally with the "Units" list box, which is located below the input fields for the origin. Please note: Your selection is accepted when you close the dialog box with the "OK" button.

Independently of this, a list box is available in every dialog box which requires or allows a number input for a length or a distance, to allow you to switch between "mm" or "inches" as units for this dialog without affecting the global settings for units.
